Experiment with braids and look at pictures of some renaisance styles. There can be some pretty elaborate stuff. Pony tails are cool 1 or two. If you've ever seen somebody have their hair half up, try it. Then try twisting it up with a clippy.
Put it half up and then divide it into section that look like two pony tails or more--trust me.
