Who's telling you that? How would they know? Can't you apply your lawyer skills in any other profession?
I say, do what you LOVE. If that's engineering, then WHY do what someone else says? However, how do you know that's what you want if you've never done it?
Do something you love so much that it never feels like work. You'll enjoy it in the long term, be happier for it and and will tend to be GOOD at it.

You shouldn't be confused follow your instinct, and do not let anyone tell you what you should be because you know what you really want to be. If you want to become an engineer go for it! Remember only you can make decisions for yourself, no one else can, so don't lament later, and start pursuing your career today

You choose the career you want...don't listen to what people want YOU to do.
Go for the engineer if that's what you want. Most lawyers are cold, heartless, ruthless and money hungry and if your not like that.....you will be.

Pursue what you love....you'll be able to go farther than you would in law because you have the passion for it. What's important is to do that which makes you happy.....otherwise your life isn't worth living.
