Why is X box Live?

everytime i go to Xbox Live it is slow it lags all the time my internet connection is 356k and I play Halo have any suggestions to make it faster.

it is not connected to the computer

Its funny, because the Xbox 360 can be played on Live even with Dial Up. Because most of the processing comes from the console itself instead of the connection. However, some games do lag but most of them works fine :). Now, all I need is Gold Live...

Is that 356k down? Sounds like you need a faster internet connection.
