yes seeing that he gets free housing, free postage, travel, food, clothing allowance, medical, everything needed to sustain a very good life. Yeah he gets enough money. Here read this:

Presidents Salary

Here is an interesting one. What is the US Presidents salary? Firstly we must understand that it is probably not the biggest criterion to be considered for such an important and responsible job. Though the compensation for the US President is generous, we know that the President’s make more in the private sector and a prime example is President George. W. Bush who is quite a wealthy businessman otherwise.

For doing his job as the President of the USA, President Bush is paid USD US 400, 00 per annum. This is supplemented by USD 50000 per annum as expense account, USD 100000 towards non-taxable travel, USD 19,000 per annum towards official entertainment and of course free housing. Free housing in this case is the White House, which consists of 132 rooms, 32 bathrooms, a movie theatre, a bowling alley, a billiards room, tennis courts, a jogging track and putting greens. He also gets to utilize the facility of Camp David, the Presidential retreat and these are some of the benefits that go with the job of course.

It was not too long ago when the Presidents salary was only USD 200, 000 per annum. The last pay hike was in 1969 when it was doubled from USD 100000 to USD 200000 per annum and only recently has it been doubled again to USD 400000 per annum (adjusting for inflation for USD 200000 in 1969, it should actually be USD 903, 232 though, as per reports).

A retired President is paid USD 150000 per annum and another USD 150000 towards staff maintenance while a former First Lady is paid USD 20,000 per annum. The Vice President earns USD 208, 100 per annum, which is the same as what the Speaker of the Hosue of Representatives and the Supreme Court Chief Justice are paid. Supreme Court Associate judges earn USD 199, 200 per annum while Court judges earn USD 171, 800 per annum. The President protempore of the Senate, the Majority and Minority leaders are paid USD 180, 100 while Presidential Cabinet members such as the Secretary of Defense, Attorney General are paid USD 157, 000 per annum.

That’s what the top federal jobs pay. The jobs however require considerable skills, stamina, quick wittedness, a desire to make a difference and require people with high caliber in each of these fields. So if that’s what you are looking at, get started right away!

Sure its enough money. Considering that all travel, food, housing and incidentals are paid through a discretionary fund already setup through Congress for that purpose.

Don't forget that all ex-presidents have a full paid security contingent for the rest of their life, as well. Paid for by the citizens.

The 400,000 / yr is fine. It spends most of its time being put in a bank or invested instead.

That would depend. In the case of the current President it is way too much money. I think before the elections canditates should have to take a civil service exam, and the results should be made public. If we did maybe we wouldn't elect presidents who can't find poland on a map of the world.

Far too much. Presidents should be paid nothing. The perks that come with the job is already too much in itself.
Remember the president works for you, not the other way around (Although this is becoming less and less true as time goes on).

Too much. He gets to live in the White House for free. He gets all his meals paid for and prepared for him. Ihe gets hungry at 2 am, he calls down to the kitchen and there is someone who will cook for him.

Can't have a president who dresses like a bum, so he gets a clothing allowance and someone buys all of his clothes for him, not to mention a tailor on the premises.

He gets bribes from companies like Haliburton and from foreign governments like Saudi Arabia. He never has to touch the 400,000 salary he makes, so he banks it and at the end of 8 years, he has 3.2 million.

All of this for a puppet of the Republican party and big business.

Yes it is enough, because the president doesn't pay bills. The white house and government pay for his electricity, water, phone and other bills.

He has transporation paid for, and has free security protection for the rest of his life. You do need to remember that many presidents and politicians come from a wealthy background. It costs a lot of money to run for president and usually it's there own money that they use, plus donations of course.

The bush family has a background in oil and busines.

I think it is plenty considering that he gets to live in the white house for at least 4 years, and 400,000 a year is more than enough

I think that every sitting president ought to be doing the job for free. Only the very rich are able to become president and they don't need the money. The prez. ought to but his salary back into the treasury so it could help the national debt. So the answer to your question is, it is way to much money.

They could get paid nothing and it wouldn't matter much, it fact they probably should get paid zero while in service and just given the usual perks after they leave.

While they are in service ALL expenses are paid for the President and his family. In addition when they leave office, they leave with a very good pension, health care, perks, security for the rest of their life.
