I repaired computers for a small travel agency until they went out of business. The ability of buying tickets over the internet and the general decrease in flying because of terrorism and rising fuel costs has made travel agencies drop like flies.

It's probably not a business to get into, unless you have substantial experience and resources.

first of all, if you want to open a travel agency you have to buy your own system, usually called Amadeus or Centauro. Second, you must get your IATA (International Air Transportation Association) Number, which identifies you has a travel agency. Then you have to register at every airline in order to receive their flights and prices.

Travel agencies are always good bussines, 'cause people sometimes don't trust Internet bookings.

The airlines will give you "special" fares, which is good 'cause if they sell you a round trip ticket at 230.50usd you can sell it at 300.00usd (just as an example)
