i'm over in clearwater. you should be able to access your county's website and check out if you are in a flood zone. You should have been given that info when you got your homeowner's insurance.

The www.fema.gov site has links to follow to take you to the flood insurance pages, there you can enter your zip code and it will give you a map to read.

If you live in Hollywood Fl. you are most likely in a flood area.

Go to the [ublic library and ask to a topographic map of your area. The elevations should be shown,, For instance I live at 1320 ft. elevation but the housea 1 block downhill are at 1000 ft. elevation.Also, the U.S. Geological Survey office in your area will ahve the maps too.

if u know a surveyor he can look it up on his maps, or contact FEMA, if u have had a survey in the past 10 yrs look on the right hand side and look to see if it says " this property is in a flood hazard zone" or not......plus if u have already built or bought a house this would have had to be disclosed to u from seller or contractor.
