Well, I have a variety of favourite songs but If I had to pick just one songwriter it would have to be Cole Porter for the timeless quality and adaptability. His songs can be, and have been, worked and reworked and still come out distinctive and somehow relevant and significant to the time of their production without having been written for the later periods.

It was him or Burt Bacharach. His songs are amazing but not just anyone can sing them, for some reason I don't understand. They're singers' songs and make good singers sound good and ordinary singers sound bad.

Ooo dare I, I really like dated pop music. The tunes written really were tuneful, the lyrics had meaning and they were sung not necessarily by the most talented or gifted of artists, but by those with an ability to put a song over.

So I am referring here to Burt Bacharach, Neil Sedaka, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, and oh so many more good song writers we never hear much of today. Instead we hear of the artist.

I also like the musical writers, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim and yes I do like Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I also appreciate the writing Of Jim Steinman, Jeff Lynn.

I could go on, but the more I'm thinking I'd like to start listening to there music, so instead, I'll take a break.

Enjoy whatever you listen to.
