First-time moms always get these "travel systems" that include an infant car seat and a stroller.
The car seat is great, if it's the one you want, but the strollers try to be everything to all people, and they fail miserably. (Car seats are approved by the National Transportation Safety Board. So you have to find one that works in your car, and fits your budget. Everything beyond that is gravy.)
Think about what you like to do, where you like to walk, and how you imagine doing things with your baby. (For example, if you live in New York City and hardly ever ride in a car, but you ride the subway all the time, you have totally different needs in a stroller than someone who travels dirt roads all the time, or does all her walking at a mall, you know?)
Most higher-end strollers have adapters that allow infant car seats to be used with them, so you don't HAVE to buy the stroller that's made by the manufacturer of your car seat.
You might join the Yahoo! StrollerSWAP group. You can post a message to the board about what you like to do and what you think you might be looking for (super-lightweight, all-terrain, reversible handle, etc.) and they will certainly be able to recommend something for you. You might even find the stroller you want, gently used, for half the price of new. Plus, there are a few retailers in the group and you might get a great deal on a new model. Or you might be able to join a few others to import something if what you want is really hard to come by.)
Infant car seats are with you for only 4-6 months. But you'll use a good stroller for years and years, especially if you have more than one child. It's worth it to get something that works well, simplifies your life, and makes you feel good (and your baby, too) when you use it.
Good luck.

I would try babiesrus.com. It's got all sorts of things, and you can sort it by style (jogging, umbrella, travel system) or price, and if you go to the store, they have them all set up so you can really look at them.
One thing, though, every new mom I know has a travel system, one of those things that has a big stroller, an infant car seat, and a base. After having one myself, I would reccomend against one. Just get a stroller and buy the carseat separate.
The infant seats are very nice, and if you aren't on a tight budget, but one of those, too, because it's great to be able to lift baby right out of the car without disturping a nap. But they're usually rated for up to about 30 lbs, and my 15 lbs baby has outgrown his.
But if you are on a tighter budget, go ahead and get the convertible carseat, and one of those infant head supports. You'll feel bad for waking baby to get in and out, but in the long run you'll save $$ and your baby from being uncomfortable in a too-small seat.

as a new mom i suggest even before the baby comes sit down in front of the comp and sign up for every baby newsletter you can think of (Hughie's,luvs,Gerber, etc) theyll send coupons and sometimes samples which makes choosing the right diaper a little easier. as for clothes Gerber has a wallet friendly line and walmart has good options. baby gap has some super cute clothes. if your having a boy i hope you have better luck than i have finding clothes most stores seem to favor girls so if thats what your having go crazy. as for furniture price wise i choose baby connection or safety 1st i hope this helps good luck!! babies are great. asking questions like these already lets me know you care deeply youll be a great momma

BabysRUS has the greatest selection of strollers and car seats! You can go to the store and someone can help you pick the right one to fit your needs, they will also try a carseat out in your car to make sure it fits properly before you buy it...you have to request first though
