Being goth has nothing to do with what clothes you wear or music you listen to, it is a way of thinking and seeing the world. The clothes that goths wear and the music that goths listen to is just a reflection of that mindset. Goths see that there is extreme pain and evil in the world, along with the good. Instead of condemning it or ignoring it, goths accept these things as a part of life and try and enjoy the good along with the bad, since they can't stop the bad from happening. They are not obsessed with death, they just accept it as an inevitability. They do not try and cause more pain in their (or anybody else's) lives, since there is plenty to start with. Goths tend to be kind, intelligent, non-violent, emotional, and artistic.

Most of the time, it means nothing...just a prefernce in music and clothes. It does NOT mean the person is satanic or is an atheist. A lot of goths listen to dark music. You don't have to fear these people. They're not going to cast a spell on you or anything. It's just a style that goes with music.....kind of like grunge brought into style the flannel shirt.

Depression. Black clothes. Trenchcoats. Metal Music. No good can come from this. (Mostly I'm kidding- I know nothing of the goth movement, except that the clothes are very interesting.)

its a trend just like every other trend out there. and not all these kids are depressed. my daughter is a straight "A" student, has two jobs, and is being scouted for college as a junior.so keep an open mind

Goth is a lifestyle, and if you truly want to know how it started and what it really is and not propaganda stereotype you should do some research.
