You really don't know what you are talking about do you?
First, take a look at the infrastructure for our oil refineries and a new one has not been built for well over 15 to 20 years. China's demand for oil has grown significantly and the former additive MTBE was discountinued all the while US consumption has increased drastically.
That said, there is a case for investigations for the oil companies, however, BUSH our fearless oil leader is backed by oil men.
Higher prices are a combination of greater world wide demand, higer OPEC prices, and the lack of refineries in the US.
Now your question -- when was the last time you tried to get a Metra/Metro/DART/BART type system in your city? Do you commute to work? I am amazed, after moving from NYC to the west coast to the number of car-loving idiots here vs. the east coast which views cars mostly as a way of transportation.

Oh...a hurricane does not need to hit the US, just need to get it close enough to the Gulf to shut down oil rigs for a few days. Also, consider that the screw-up of BP in Alaska will likely raise prices for the west coast as the other oil for refineries would have to be shipped from the Gulf around the Panama Canal then to the California.

i don`t know what excuse they will use so they can raise the price of gas. but i do know the reason for the raise in gas prices. and why they keep getting high`er. it is because they like to get more money than they need. most people call it greed. that is how they can give them self a big check and an even bigger bonus of a 1.000.000.00 dollars Every year.

Don't need to worry about it. A hurricane is hitting FLA in the next few days, and is supposed to be as bad as Katrina.
