If the mailman stole your mailbox it would be because you were in violation of where the mailbox could be located and/or the legal height of which a mailbox is.
Our mailman threatened to take mine because it was not the correct height. And it really was a regulation....lol He drives in a regular vehicle and he couldn't reach out the window and put the mail in.......lol
I live out in the boonies and guess they to lazy to get out of their vehicles..

Was it a regulation box according to the postal service? Was it damaged? The door refuse to close properly? I live on a rural route and those are some of the reasons a mailbox may be removed. Also, if it's a rural box it must have a handle for opening and closing.

If you didn't see him/her take it, I would really doubt he did. If you DID see him/.her take it......report it......it's a federal offense and he/she is in deep shiite.
Most likely kids took it. Or an inattentive driver whacked it. If it was wintertime a snowplow would be the prime suspect. But I'd rather imagine kids got it.

first of all how sure are you? I would call the central distribution center and find out his/her supervisor and speak with them... if you have proof beyond a shadow of a doubt call the police and have him charged with theft..
