punk was the term coined in the 70s for the music generated by urban kids who usually had little musical training and resources, expressing their angst and frustration

because punk has become a blanket term for so many different styles, that's called street punk now

and the violent natured skinhead type is called Oi

Street punk is slight genre split from straight up punk.

Street punk is often played by "working class" bands and has lots of sing-along choruses in it. It's popular pub music in some quarters.

Good examples of street punk bands would be The Casualties & Sham 69.
