Presuming you mean non-living items so the pets & fiancee are already safe... My computer, because it has all my photos, financial data and other important records, email, etc., stored on the hard drives. I can get along without the other stuff, and most of it (clothes, furniture, etc) is relatively easy to replace. But the data stored on the computer would be a pain to lose.

From personal experience, when I was over at my Mother's house several years ago, her house caught on fire and we went back in to get her cat. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

~~This depends on the variables, if my daughter is here, and unable to get out on her own, she would be my first choice. if my cat is unable to get out on his own, following me or getting out when i open the door, then he would be 2nd, third i would have to say my purse with it's contents in it.~~

**note to dragonfly... you may not be aware of items such as the night cradle, this would be an excellent investment for your daughter's safety. there will come a day when she may need to be awakened when no one is around... (children all grow up) i have a friend who is legally deaf and without her hearing aids she hears nothing and depends on a unit such as this... see the link below. (also they have service dogs for the hearing impared) if i can help you find any of this info, email me.

3 weeks ago it would have been my cat, but she's already passed on so that wouldn't be it.

Since I really don't have anything of sentimental value, I'd probably just grab clothes or cash- the two things I view as necessary after I make it out.

I would like to save my cats but my husband is a firefighter and he says cats are often lost in house fires because they hide. Other than my cats anything can be replaced.

My 7 year old daughter! She's profoundly deaf and can't hear the fire alarm. She has a strobe light fire alarm in her room but I'm still scared she won't wake up for it.

I'd just make sure me and my family got out, I wouldn't try to rescue any material objects.
