I got a job offer for 60K/yr as a logistics analyst in south NJ (Pitman). I had been terminated 6 mos. back from my last consulting job for a tiny company after barely 2 mos, but after looking for work for a while I kinda gave up and got myself admitted into the Masters in Accounting program at UT Austin. Now after 1 month into my new program one of the companies I had interviewed 40 days back and they finally offerred me 60K for a job. I feel that if I was in a finance/ accounting to begin with I wouldnt have to wait for so long to get another job. SO what do you all think...should I continue in the accounting masters or take up the job? I have substantial scholarships for the MAcc program . On the other hand the salary is 60K. WHich would be better in the long run? PLEASE HELP AS I CANNOT MAKE UP MY MIND!!!!!!

Ask yourself if you feel like the Sony job is the perfect match with your interests and has long term potential (i.e., is not a contract job). Ask yourself what the advantage of an MA is over a BA in the working world, in your field. I'd also ask someone what the general earning potential is with an MA in accounting. Or, look it up on the net. Answers to these questions will result in the best decision for you.
If you absolutely can't make up your mind, do the MA part-time. In Canada (anyhow), you can't register for an MA part-time, meaning you have to pay the tuition as a full-time student, but no one makes you take full-time courses. You can have a part-time status without actually declaring it. At least, that's been my experience. Call your registrar's office or grad studies in the morning. This way, if you hate the job, you can bump up to full-time. If you hate the MA, you'll focus exclusively on the job.
Final vote? If you can do both, DO both. If you can't, take the MA. Grad school is difficult to get into, scholarships are often few and far between, you'll make more when you're done, have more opportunity, and you will be working up to your intellectual potential.
I am a grad student; been in a similar situation and I went with the degree. Haven't looked back. But, then again, I'm sure my situation is different than yours.
Answer the questions I posed above and decide.

I would take the $60K. Establish yourself financially and then make a promise to pursue your Masters degree in a couple of years. It's always great to get "real world" experience and then go back to school.
I'm in a similar situation. I was offered $45K, but I just got into Graduate School. I'm going to take the $45K and take evening classes. Make sure you have a steady income coming in.

Given that I am currently finishing my MA in Counseling Psychology, I would say take the job, and look for MA programs online.

I'd take the $$$, after a while you can see if the new company will offer tuition reimbursement or you can go to school in NJ.

Masters. You'll get, at least, a 60k job when you finish, and you'll have a degree.
