if its a ball mouse, remove the ball ( just unscrew the keeper) and clean the lint off the wheels... if its an optical mouse clean the lint off the eye

It may just just be dirty inside (where the ball is). There are little wheels on either side of the ball that get gunk on them from the mouse pad. Try cleaning them and see if that works. Mine does that every so often.

Look the ball of the mouse. There are some little arrows there. Take ball out and clean it wtih denatured alcohol. Also mousepads get dirty and need to be replaced. I finally bought trackball . . . no mousepad is needed!

get rid of the balll mouse and get an optical mouse.

go to staples and ask them about them if u dont know what an optical mouse is.

it uses a laser instead of a ball which is more sufficent. u can use it on any surface.

have you checked the inside of the mouse pad? it usually picks up all the sticky stuff.
Make sure your mousepad cable is not being pulled. make sure it is free.
