Is the theory of our solar system encountering the photon belt in the year 2012 real or just a hoax, what do you think? Is there any scientific proof that this will actually happen?

There is no "photon belt". It is a fantasy made up to sell books. Photons are the particles of light. How would light stay in a belt? It does not. It radiates away in all directions. Therefore, a "photon belt" would have to have a source and once created would not stay together.

Like the others have said here, it's a load of crock made up by fantasy prone people who have nothing else to do in their lives except trip out on wacky notions of what they believe is reality. They've become deluded into believing in their own thoughts have a concrete basis in the truth, with absolutely no proof whatsoever. I honestly think that some of them should write fantasy-fiction books. They'd make more money that way and at least get a good reputation as writers instead of being labelled as nut cases.

Although I think some of them are tripping out on something more than just weird ideas.

I don't know about scientific proof but I think it would have been a bigger news item for at least the last 15 years if it was true.

In fact given how much these things are exaggerated you can pretty much take the relative silence as proof nothing is going to happen!

I've never heard of the photon belt before, so I looked it up on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Photon_Belt
The first sentence is all I needed to read:
"The Photon Belt is a belief largely linked to some parts of the new age movement..."
In other words, it's a crock, there's no such thing, which explains why I have never heard of it.
