I RETROFITTED MY 1988 F-150 FOR R134A. I VACUUMED IT DOWN,AND FILLED IT BACK UP. I ALSO INSTALLED A NEW ACCUMALATER.IT IS GETTING COOL, BUT IT IS NOT COLD.
THE LINE AND THE DRIER ARE NOT COLD OR SWEATY. WHAT CAN IT BE?

You did not say what the low side reading was or high side reading. I assume you put in a new orifice tube. Clogged flow at the orifice would cause very low, low side and higher than normal amount of heat in the compressor to condenser. With not much cooling going on, the accumulator just cool do to low flow across the evaporator. remember the new orifice tube should be a R-134 orifice different green O rings and larger hole .030" then with a good pump freeze you out

Do u have ac gauges? if so check pressures when car is running if pressure is the same on both sides u have a prob with compressor . If not (red) high side should be around 200-220 and (blue) low side should be 30-45psi on a hot day.. make sure your auxilary fan or big platic fan {im guessing on the ford}. Is working if not the high side would be to high im pressure and wouldent cool properly.

Question, Did you change the compressure oil. R12 oil in the compressure is not compatable with 134a And you can't use the same oil.
If you dident it is possable it will lock up the compressure.
Also did you change the filter in the low side line? If not it is possable it is stopped up and not alowing the freon to flow
It can also be the expaction valve is cloged

If you did not replace the orifice tube it can be plugged, also adding stop leak in the system can plug a new orifice. If it is not plugged the your condenser fins probably are, use low pressure compressed air and blow from the inside out (between the condenser and radiator).

check the fan clutch, it may be weak.
don't exspect it to get as cold as it used to, the systom was not designed for 134a my need a bigger condensor.
i converted my 89 f-250 and on real hot days it s all it can do to get it cold on high

it is probably over charged, most retro kits only use 80 -85% of r-134-a as opposed to r-12
