Depends on your definition of cool. Superman is the epitome of Light, the Ultimate Human, the guy who can make things right with his incredible powers and stands for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Batman is the Dark Knight, the streetwise guy with no super-powers who gets down and dirty with organized (and disorganized) crime and isn't so much loved as feared. Whichever appeals to you most is the coolest.

Batman by light-years.

Superman has never been "cool" - he's the straight-laced, by-the-book, always do the right thing, take people at their word sort of hero. Clark Kent is very much a reflection of the midwestern values that Superman holds (after all, he was raised by the Kents) He's the overgrown boy scout, and that's fine. Now he's not naive- he'll use his X-Ray vision to scan the building while Luthor is talking to him, in order to find the hidden bomb. He'll use his super-speed to duck out on Jimmy & Lois in order to get crosstown to prevent a disaster and get back before they realize he was gone. But Superman isn't cynical or streetwise- he's the kid who studied instead of going to parties- he wouldn't know where the raves are, or why teenagers enjoy them. He's never lived in poor, depressed neighborhoods where crime operates below the radar and one must blend in & work undercover to gain information.

Batman has the image- the cool gadgets, the cool car, the dark, brooding persona- the ability to convince criminals that he's more dangerous than the drug kingpins they work for. Batman outsmarts villians by knowing what they're thinking and beating them to the punch.

Superman outclasses Batman in power, no question. And he's probably more heroic, even though Batman has no powers and gets points for that. But in terms of cool-factor, we're talking John-Boy Walton vs Blade.

Batman, he's dark, brooding and knows pretty much everything about everything in the cartoons. He's got a cool car and cape. He's human and full of faults. He's more real and touchable than Superman. Superman may have all the cool powers and may be the first superhero, but he's still too much of a boy-scout to connect with. He's the superego, Batman's more like the ego, more realistic and relatable.

Batman is way cooler because he has all the cool, high tech toys, and he has no super powers. He has to work hard, dedicate his life to being the Bat, and is a great detective. Superman was just born on another planet, big deal.

Batman.
He was one of the few superheros that did not actually have any superpowers, yet he was still able to save many people. I mean if you actually had superpowers you really have only the choices of either become a superhero or villain or go into hiding and have serious issues. Batman actually made the conscious decision to put his own life at risk to protect others. He also had one of the coolest costumes and gadgets.

Superman because he's got powers. Batman has to use gadgets, as far as I'm aware.

Batman. He has no additional strenght, yet takes on the violent criminals. Hes extrememly smart, ie: the batcave, bat car, gizmos in his belt. He's able to manage and organize a multimillion dollar corporation. He's tall, dark, and slightly mental. All the things a girl out to fix a "broken" bad boy could desire.

Batman. He has some vurnerability to him, which makes him more human and likeable, whereas Superman is a cheap bastard because the only way you can defeat him is to shove kryptonite up his ***, and who the hell has that on hand?
