They weren't your friends to begin with if this is how they are treating you because of a compliment. They are immature and has low self esteem. Look for a new set of friends!

Its hard when this type of thing happens but similar situations will happen all through your life. You are who you are , better to make a stand now and say here I am like or not . You should be proud your smart and nurture it, not have to act dumb to placate silly kids who really are probably just envious.
Someone else said join a Math club sounds like a good idea.
Being "in the crowd" may seem really important right now but being proud of who you are will carry you always.

Teachers sometimes don't get it do they. It's difficult enough to fit in when you are clever, with the teachers rubbing it in and making it difficult.
Whatever you do, don't stop working at your maths though, becasue it's a great thing to be good at. Is this teacher someone you can talk to and explain? Could you tell her/him that it makes you embarassed when they praise you so openly and ask if they could write comments in your book insteading of telling the whole class?
If not, you might have to bluff it with your mates and say things like" I don't know why I got an A, I thought I'd got half of them wrong", or ask THEM to help you with your maths sometimes (even if you know all the answers) so they think they are better than you at something.

It takes a lot of inner strength to be smart at school.....The Crowd, musnt be a very good crowd if they dont like you because you are smart. Being smart is something to be proud of....you will go a long way. The Crowd that you want to belong to, isnt worthy of you. They mustnt be very smart to not like you for a silly reason of being smart. Maybe you could be happy finding a smart crowd to hang out with. Dont wait for people to come up to you, take a chance and pick the people you want to hang with....You may be surprised at the people who really do like you and want to hang with you.

You could join a math club. You are better off associating with people of your same IQ, and interests. Don't worry about what the crowd thinks.

Be proud of your accomplishments in math! If there is anyone in the crowd you are referring to who will not befriend you or socialize with you for that reason alone, they are neither worth your friendship nor the time of day. It sounds like they are jealous and envious of your success. A friendly person is not jealous or envious of anyone to that extent for such a trivial reason. Find a more upscale crowd to make friends with.

Lucky you! you are smart at math, and now you know who your real friends are. Math will get you in to college and a really good job, your so called friends won't, so suck it up and move on from the losers.

very simply-- the crowd sucks, and being good at math makes money......
The dorks become the hotties when you're in your mid twenties, so get close with the kids who are good at what you're good at-- embrace your gifts!!!
I know that probably sounds impossible, but it's true.
Let your teacher know privately that they are embarrassing you so that it can stop. Then surround yourself with the nicest "nerds" you can find--- they end up to bee the cool ones, trust me!!!
