I need old wives tales on concieving a baby. It's for a game at my friends baby shower. My friends & I are having a hard time think of old wives tales on concieving, we can only think of ones for preventing.

hee hee this will be an interesting party ... wonder if the older ladies will laugh when I say stuff like "Sqeezing testicles"

we need just a few more then I think we can have a really fun time!!! we still have a big list on "how to prevent pregnancy" We just need more on how to get pregnant... try to make up a somewhat believable old wives tale for fun... my brain is all out of ideas

If it is cold outside, do not sleep with a lot of quilts because it stops you from moving around under the covers.

Take cough syrup a few days before you want to get pregnant, it controls the excessive fluid a woman has.

Prop your feet up above your head after you have sex.

Now for the ones I just made up:
Tie your wedding rings together on a string and place on your bed post.

Have sex in a rocking chair.

Place your left ring finger in your husbands right ear just before he.........

Wear knee highs to bed.

Put mustard between your toes.

The pregnant woman, with her eyes closed, should be guided to the rosebushes. She should then walk seven times in a counterclockwise circle before heading, still with her eyes shut, toward the roses. IF you want a boy eats Lot's of chocolate (who would say no)
do missionary style and put a pillow under your but and stay in that position for 30 mins after words.
Do not let the man masturbate and only have sex once a day because you want to keep the sperm count up and use it for a good reason other than throwing it away LOL.....
Then there is the always famous one stand on your head for 30 mins after word. I tried allot of these and got pregnant with my boy on our first try. I hope you have fun....Baby showers are always fun.

this isn't an old wives tale but a form of couvade from the french word to hatch a cultural practice where the man takes on the pain of childbirth that is common in many cultures my favorite is
Among the Huichol people of Mexico during the delivery of the child the father sits in the rafters of the house a rope tied to his scrotum the end of the rope is clutched by the mother who tugs on them when contractions come, so that her husband will share in the pain.

hmm you might want to try googling to see if you can come up with some of the old chinese traditions on fertility and even some of the old pagan rituals...........the giving of eggs at easter is supposed to help concieve and is representative of fertility....... the old may day ritual of dancing around a pole (represents a penis by the way) is part of another rite.
