Depends on location. I live in Phoenix and all motorcycle mechanics make crap. Starting is around $8.60 an hour which is ridiciulous.
I have an HD tech friend in New York who made $16.50 on hour to start 3 years ago.
I have another HD friend who works in Portland, OR and made around $14 HR to start a few years ago.
Colorado is also junk for any motorcycle tech jobs, average wage is under $10 an hour to start.
California is okay, around $13 an hour to start, but you have to factor in the cost of living.
So in all, it depends on location.
But some HD Master Techs with all their PhD's done can make over $40 an hour.

Nowhere near what the dealer makes off the mechanic. A certified mechanic will start around $12 to $15. The real money is in making a name for yourself and starting your own shop doing customization and modifications.
