For the record, I've been searching my textbook, the internet and my online textbook for the past 3 hours and I don't know what to do. Nothing I've read has been any help, so before you make assumptions and start blowing up at people you don't know (augmom) I suggest you take into account that I'm only asking for help because I've tried to do this on my own. And I know there are only supposebly 5 groups, however it was put as 7 on my assignment sheet, so unless it's a typo...

The evolution of multicellularity was a big deal because without it there would only be single celled organisms on earth, like bacteria and protozoans. An explosion of multi-cellular organisms occured in the Cambrian Period around 550 million years ago. The diverse fauna that evolved during this period occured in a rock called the Ediacara formation and has been found at a number of locations around the world, for example, in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia.
The evolution of multi-celled organisms and bilateral symmetry, organisms that have mirror image halves eg jellyfish, worms etc has allowed the evolution of cephalization ( head and brain formation at one end ) and greater complexity in body plan eg the tagmatization (segmentation) of invertebrates (insects, worms).
This may help!? PS try and get hold of a book on invertebrate or vertebrate zoology , one by Barnes comes to mind (too many years!!)

There are only 5 groups not 7. Please do your OWN homework -- you will get nothing out of school by having others do your work for you! Since you have internet access, wouldn't it be easier to google your question and get your own answer, rather than hoping random strangers will feed you your answers?

God help me if you are an example of who's going to be paying into the Social Security system when I retire ... not sure someone who's only qualified to flip burgers (the sad fate of all those who do not do their own homework) will be able to adequately fund the SS system 25 years from now.
