It's only because Simon speaks his mind on American Idol. A lot of people don't deal with rejection well and so when they have the opportunity to get back at the person who caused that rejection, they will. They couldn't do much more than boo him so that's what the audience did. He's too blunt in my opinion but he does speak the truth about the people he rejects before they reach the top 20.

Simon is honest which is good but he could be less rude about telling people they aren't good .

because his percieved on idol as a harsh man thats all. It think his great honesty is my favourite aspect in people

probally cuz he's an *** and they wanted to show him how it feels to be shuned and made fun of.
