I can't install my Verizon DSL software because it says that I don't have administrative rights. It's my freakin computer, why does it say that? I called the apple helpline twice, they couldn't help me and I can't call back because it is no longer free. If I call verizon they say it is not their problem. What is the problem?

In addition to Bryan's, even if you log in without administrator capabilities, the software would prompt you to key in the admin's p/w before continuing with the installation process.

Is this a Mac running OS X? If it is, make sure that you are logging onto the computer using an account with Admin rights. Any accounts with Admin rights will have Admin next to them at the login screen.

You shouldn't need software to have DSL unless you need PPPoE. If that is the case, Macs have PPPoE built in. You'll need to go to network and setup PPPoE.

Verizon should really help you setup your computer to access the internet. Pretty much any other provider would.

Your best bet is probably to invest in a router to sit between your computer and your connection. Not only does it add another layer of protection, but since I have heard that Verizon doesn't offer much in the way of tech support for Macs, you can easily sidestep them.

Having to type in your admin password is a GOOD thing. It keeps stuff from installing itself without your consent.
