There are all kinds of symbols. The egg is a very ancient one, either whole or the yolk itself. The Tarot card trump # 20, the World, is a beautiful symbol. Shiva dancing is another. The pentagram (the 5 pointed star in a circle) represents the 5 elements of air, fire, water , earth and space.

well, the traditional symbol for the earth, was a circle with a plus sign in it.
As for the universe, It's the milky way galaxy, with the black hole in the center...If i remember properly, when they shot the Voyager probes out, with the plates on the side to give an illustration on what we were, and where we were, they included an image of the galaxy, plus the planets, two pics of a male and female, and the arrow showing where earth was....would hate to have aliens coming to visit earth, only to go to Jupiter....boom!

In addition to those symbols some ancient Africans where realy into Astronamy. They have some beutifull spiraling circular and triangular star like symbols from way back.
