I am a Real American. I have native american blood in my veins. I have blood from so many different countries running through my veins. What makes a person a Real American? We all have different ethnic backgrounds in us. I don't know of anyone without some kind of other ethnicity besides american. America is a melting pot of people. So just like Native Americans, any American is a real American. No one has forgotten the Native Americans. Every country is founded by immigrants so no country has natives? thats just stupid. We may have immigrated here, but we fight for this slab of Earth and we take pride in it. SO, by God we are Americans.

Unless, we erase all the borders; then, we all become citizens of planet, Earth; members of one race--the human race, brothers and sisters of one family, sons and daughters of the One God.
I think that's closer to it. We've got to all grow up and quit fighting over "our sides of the bedroom:"--our territories, and realize we're all on spaceship Earth together, put our childish, selfish, territorial egos away and grow up! Would we really prefer annihilation to unity?
You may be an immigrant, and I'm not a REAL American, I'm a WORLD CITIZEN. The Native Americans immigrated here from Asia. So what--who immigrated from where? Few of us are going back--we're going forward to the Unity of Mankind--because that's God's Divine Plan. We can love it or hate it; but, it's our destiny. We'd better get with the program, or perish.
And what a beautiful program it is! It's nothing less than the Kingdom of God on Earth. Mankind won't reach his full potential until is he evolves into "the new race of man", and until men and women have equal rights and opportunities, until there is a natural flow from and to all parts of the world, so that jobs and manpower can find each other. Then, we'll enjoy the Kingdom.
And, let's take a look at the term, "REAL American". Canadians, Mexicans, Central Americans and South Americans are REAL Americans. Try to tell them you are, and they aren't. Rightfully, those born in the U.S.A. should be called United Statesians, as well as Americans. Chinese are Chinese as well as Asians. They aren't known as the ONLY Asians. How would "REAL Americans" like the Canadians or Mexicans to be referred to as "Americans", and not themselves?
I didn't become aware of how hurtful this is to the other Americans of Latin America until I lived in Central America for several years. What ego, we "REAL Americans" have!
I'm now living in China, and have a hard time, when, people ask me if I'm "Magua" (means Beautiful Country). I want to tell them yes; but, that doesn't mean only United States. So I just tell them I'm a World Citizen from Planet Earth--just like them!

The original native American Indians are (currently) thought to have migrated from Siberia down through Alaska. The English and to a lesser extent the Spanish and French were settlers, as there was no formal government to accept or reject them there was no system for them to immigrate into. So the original settlers and their descendants weren't immigrants at any point.

No, I am not an immigrant. My grand parents were immigrants. I was born in America, and am therefore a native American, with a lower case n. I woudn't use the term TRUE American, because I think any legal citizen is a True American. I have not forgotten the Native Americans were here first (with an upper case N): Indians are from India.

This country is full of contradicting self hating morons. They forget that their ancestors were immigrants from other countries yet they treat other immigrants from the present day like they are as low as dirt. Need we remind them that at one point in history they gladly welcomed immigrants to work for them on their plantations, railroads and etc. They only welcome immigrants when it is to their convenience. The "real Americans" as they call themselves probably don't even remember that this land is stolen from the native Americans! The true Americans! In a way the holocaust never ended. In my prospective the Caucasian race or Arian is still being treated as the Superior race.
Im not native american by the way.

Just a reminder the Indians (Native Americans) are immigrants too. A long time ago, they came across a land bridge before it disappeared.

I'm very torn by this question. On one hand, I understand what you mean, of course natives are the original American (or in my case, Canadian). Then I look at how they act around here and how far they've disgraced a beautiful and rich culture. I think that before any more of my tax dollars go to support the natives of Canada, they should see how they live and treat themselves.

They come, they see, they conquer, they forget ... their genocide of our people is put out of mind and buried under their cities and farms ... but the truth will never die. They have destroyed much of Turtle Island but, our Earth Mother will in deed recover when all is said and done.
Now they label themselves per their political affiliation and argue among each other ... seeing new land to conquer in the Mideast. Playing one group of Muslims against another, as they did our ancestors. While they argue and war, they leave many of their own to suffer by causing their Middle Class to fall into poverty and many of their corporate structures empty.
I see those who are on the Reservations as being the protectors of many of our old ways ... which are to survive long after the Immigrants fall. Those of us out here in the confusing world of the whites, are those who can vouch strongly for their mistakes so our people don't make the same.
Great Spirit knows who we are and where we are, and one day will unite us again and to walk Turtle Island freely once more. Please, keep the faith.

Actually, the Indians are native to India, and the Native Americans are native to America.
Geez, 500 years later and we still have to deal with columbus' mistake.
And back to the real American thing. Anyone who lives in The U.S., loves this country, and wants to continue to make it a better place to live is a real American. If you don't think so, you are a racist, and unamerican.

You are wrong. All people are native to wherever they were born. Immigrants are individuals who were born elsewhere and then moved to another country from their native lands. Native Americans are people who were born here in the USA.
I was born here, as were my ancestors going back for 250 years and more, so that makes me a Native American no matter where my ancestors from 300 years ago lived.
