Doesn't that mean the diagonal of the square is 10? Use pythagoras from there.

If a circle has a radius 5, then the diagonal of the square has length 10. Therefore, if the side is X, then X^2 + X^2 = 10^2.

So, X = sqrt(50)

The area is X*X = 50.

Radius = 5 implies diagonal of sqaure = 10. Let side of square be x, then by pythagoras:

x^2 + x^2 = 100 => x = sqrt(50)

=> Area = 50

to get the side of the square. diagonl= s times the square root of 2. since the radius is 5. the dinamtere is 10. 10= s tome square root of 2 divide both sides with square root fo 2 get s= 5 square root of 2. s ^2= ( squareroot of 2)^2= 5^2 times 2= 25 times 2= 50!

ok, these are all good hints... let's put some of them together... remember that, in algebra, how you arrive at the answer is part of the answer

the diameter is 5, so that is also the diagonal of the square. the diagonal splits the square into two right triangles, so use Pythagoras' rule. but the square of the side of a square is its area... you should get 50 square units for the area (what is the length of a side?)

The diagonal across the square is 10, the same as the diamter of the circle. 10 sqd is 100 so each of the two sides sqd is 50. So each side is the sqrt of 50. To get the area of a square, you square one side. the sqrt of 50 squared, is 50. That's the area, 50 units squared.

Hi. Radius is 5 so diameter is 10. Area = side times side. Think of the square hole size that a 10" diameter pin fits into.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

a^2 + a^2 = (2 * 5)^2
2a^2 = 10^2
2a^2 = 100
a^2 = 50
a = sqrt(50)
a = 5sqrt(2)

sqrt(50)^2 = 50

ANS : 50
