Taste has everything to do with taste receptors that are on your tongue and in your mouth. When food comes in contact with these taste receptors, signals are sent to the brain and the brain actually interprets the "taste" or flavor of the food. The fact that some people don't like certain foods is because these taste receptors or taste bud cells wear out and are replaced every ten days. Overactivation of some nerve receptors can quickly tire them, causing to lose their responsiveness. This occurs when you eat more stimulating foods. It then takes progressively stronger stimulation with stronger tasting foods in greater quantities to get your receptors working again. If you take a break from these foods, you'll have an appreciation for foods you didn't think you could like.
