Right now (9pm EDT) Tropical Storm Ernesto is forecast to go up the Gulf side of Florida as a hurricane. Don't listen to the locals--pay attention to the hurricane center or national media.

As for the rain question...it will rain as it passes by. So I guess Ernesto will "hit" Miami. If it's as far north as it's supposed to be by Thursday, it shouldn't be raining in Miami (other than the normal afternoon showers/thunderstorms in the area).

I would base your trip on whether you are going to fly there or drive there. If you're flying, then i'd go because the airlines won't take you there if there's a change in Ernesto's track...you'd probably get a refund or free tickets for sometime later if your flight got canceled.

If you're driving...I'd wouldn't go because of the variables possible in the storm's track. And I wouldn't want to be driving around lots of people and risk hydroplaning in high winds & heavy rain and poor visibility.

It depends of by what you mean by "hit". If you mean that Miami will feel the effect of Ernesto, then the answer is probably (If Ernesto survives at all), but if you mean that the eye or even hurricane force winds will affect the city, then the answer is NO.

You owe me a "best answer" if I'm right!!!

No matter what, you WILL get rain from it. Ernesto is NOT a big deal at all. It's a minor hurricane.
