Also, Richard Attenborough's character says that he "insists on being present for the 'births' of each dinosaur at J.P. because they imprint upon the first person/creature they see." If that were true, wouldn't all of the dinosaurs have been tame and 'safe' because they would have thought that he was their 'parent'? I know I am way overanylizing, just pointing out some plot flaws and wonder if anyone else noticed or could explain them away. Thanks!

Why was the triceratops sick? In the movie, they don't resolve it (plot hole), but in the book it was due to some poisonous berries they were eating.

In regards to the imprinting: just because a wild animal is imprinted on the first thing it sees doesn't mean it won't attack. Lions, tigers, and bears (OH MY!) who are raised by humans will still flip out and attack people.

Michael Chrichtons original novel and the screenplay, however, includes an explanation why the animal got sick. The Stegosaur/Triceratops lacked suitable teeth for grinding food and so, like birds, would swallow rocks and use them as gizzard stones. In the digestive tract, these rocks would grind the food to aid in digestion. After six weeks, the rocks would become too smooth to be useful, and the animal would regurgitate them. When finding and eating new rocks to use, the animal would also swallow West Indian Lilac berries. The fact that the berries and stones are regurgitated explains why Ellie never finds traces of them in the animal's excrement.
