I have a bad smell coming from my vagina. My discharge is clear but it smells absolutely awful. I am on birth control and this is the only time in my life that I have had this problem. It's worse after I have sex with my boyfriend. I bought a 1 day yeast infection treatment but I'm afraid it won't work. I am really scared, someone please help me!!

It's probably not serious, so no need to be scared. If you have a vaginal discharge that is foul smelling, you most likely have a bacterial infection such as Bacterial Vaginosis, or Trich. There are a number of bacterial vaginal infections that are not STD's, but need to be still need to be treated with medication from a doctor, either an anti biotic or flagyl. Acidophilus and yogurt are helpful with a yeast infection, but will do nothing or little for a bacterial infection. Also, contrary to popular belief, the use of plain yogurt with active baterial cultures for the treatment of yeast infection is not to be ingested, (eaten) but inserted into the vagina like a douche. It re-introduces some of the "helpful" bacterial into the vagina that are not in significant number to fight the overgrowth of yeast cells. Best advice, see a doctor or nurse practitioner at a women's clinic, and don't have sex until you are seen in the clinic.

Go to the doctor. You need to be very careful that you are treating the right issue or you could make it worse. Chances are that it is a yeast infection if it has a 'fishy' oder, however, treating a bacterial infection with a yeast treatment could lead to a much worse health problem. If this is your first time the doctor can help you learn the signs to tell the difference between the two.

Have you looked at your diet and to what may be causing the problem? I recommend 100% pure coconut oil (NUI - pronounced new) to be applied directly to the affected area, you will get immediate relief. You also need to be taking coconut oil (in its hardened state) orally, about 3 tablespoons per day. Get your boyfriend to use this as well. It has great antibiotic properties, and is a great lubricant. Over the counter yeast treatments don't treat the cause and only push the infection further up into the body, causing other problems. I say 'if I can't eat it I won't allow it on or in my body'.

This sounds like a problem to bring up to a Professional.I think you should go see a docter about this issue because this problem is not normal and sounds like some sort of an infection. If you don't have a Docter than try the treatment that you bought to see if it helps. If the treatment does not help then you really should be seen anyway. I think that your health is much more important than having an extra bill to pay. Don't you agree? Good luck!

I would call your gynecologist and speak to a nurse, so she can get you in asap. I would not take the yeast infection medication, as you don't know for sure if it is a yeast infection, and, if it is, if they test for it, it may not show up. Also, if he needs to run a culture of the cells on the lining on your cervix or of anything else, this may interfere. I would not have intercourse until you consult with your doctor.

It sounds like you have bacteria vaginosis. While it isn't an STD if left untreated it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease which can lead to infertility. There is no over the counter treatment. You need to go to a doctor to get antibiotics.

You may want to go to the doctor it could be what the doctor refers to as BV bacterial vagintis or somthing like that could also be trich. They both appear to be like a yeats infection but cant be cured with yeast nesicines. I have had all 3 in my life time adn they all seem simiilar.

You are probably passing it back and forth with him. I suggest you both see the doctor and get stronger medication. Some of the over the counter medication for yeast infections doesn't work.

See what happens after the yeast cream. By some vaginal wash. Get tested for sexually transmitted infections. Abstain from sex until your test results are back. Have your boyfriend get tested as well. No matter what GET TESTED NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You could have something and not know it.
