In "Everybody Loves Raymond", nobody, not even Ray, likes Debra's cooking. Why don't they like her cooking?

Everyone has wasted all of their love and affection on that jerkwad Raymond, so they don't have any more left for Debra's cooking.

There's probably nothing wrong with her cooking - it's just that it's not Ray's mom's cooking. Nothing is ever as good as your mother's so that's what the deal is. That and there is this perception, at least on TV, that if you're not Italian you don't know how to cook good Italian food.

Debra is a rotten cook because she won't listen
to Marie

The all compared her cooking to Marie's and Marie had been cooking for years! It's like the only talent Marie has outside of cleaning the house.
But mostly it's just a running joke.

Because Ray and everyone else has this impossibly high standard of good cooking, set of course by Marie, his mother. In Ray's mind, no one can really measure up to his mother. And everyone kind of "bows" to Marie, so when Marie constantly criticizes Deborah about her cooking, everyone else follows her lead b/c she's the matriarch and what she says "goes." I love that show, by the way! :)
