Yes. On my mother's side, I'm Eastern European/Midwestern, on my father's side, Scots-Irish/Florida Cracker. I'm proud of who and what I am. I express that pride in a lot of ways. My accent sounds like Michigan and Florida fighting in my voice, and I appreciate that now. My cooking is influenced by all my cultures, too, even though I changed it up by being vegetarian.
I read a wonderful book by James Webb recently called "Born Fighting", about the Scots-Irish in the American South. It was refreshing--honest about our flaws, without condemning us as a bunch of ignorant bigots like so many other people do.

I'm not proud of anything. I am mixed and I am composed of every oppressed race on Earth. Seriously, if the people were raped and murdered you can rest assured I am a part of that culture.
