austin texas to Alamogordo new mexico do i go near borter check points

to get to ruidoso you will have to go through alamogordo. you can either get there by going straight to alamogordo which takes about 70 minutes or thru las cruces then to alamogordo which is about 90-110 minutes. both ways have border patrol stations

I know there is a border check about thirty miles north of El Paso. At least there was when I drove through there last November.

I would get out on one of the smaller state highways to get to Ruidoso. You are going to have to go way off of the interstate to get there anyway once you get into New Mexico.

There is one on I-10 near El Paso (in TX, not NM). I think they just ask every certain number of people if they are US citizens. They asked my blond hair, blue eyed ex-husband if he was a US citizen, but not me who was driving a (Ryder) moving truck. They asked a group of students travelling and one wasn't a US citizen (he was from somewhere in Europe) and didn't have his green card. they still managed to all get home (near Austin). I've always been waved through. I don't look hispanic.
