Is it your own home computer? because if not, it may be a mis-error in such that you are being denied access to command prompt by an administrator.


Also, for future reference, it's usually a good idea to tell people what o/s you are using?

There may be some application that's has your command interpreter locked. Or it could be viral/spyware related.


Have you tried booting your computer up in SAFE MODE?

(f8 right at the start when windows is first about to show a logo)

running windows XP?

run msconfig, and select a "Diagnostic startup"

If going to Start->Run->cmd in 2000/XP doesn't work, or command in 98/Me doesn't work, run antivirus and antispyware and make sure nothing is blocking the command prompt.
