Sexual urges are the strongest natural instincts that people are born with... nothing can stop or alter what a person is sexually enticed by. For that reason, "reparative therapy" is not a legitimate cute for homosexuality. It is simply a religion-based belief system that encourages the "patient" to try and convice themselves that they do NOT have the feelings that naturally occur to them. It uses guilt as it's main motivator, and bascially teaches the "patient" how to ACT and PRETEND to be straight. NOTHING can actually remove these natural instincts from being present in their psyche.
In the old days, they also had an alternative lifestyle available for homosexuals. It was called "the priesthood".

Reparative therapy is therapy which aims to change a persons sexual orientation from (homo/bi)sexual to heterosexual. It is based upon the idea that same sex attraction is purely psychological in nature, and the result of same-gender-defensive-detachment (i.e. caused by poor father-son relations and/or same gender peer or sibling relations). The term reparative means "to repair" and implies that same sex attraction is a malfunction. Modern psychology is very sceptical about this, and the American Psychological Association has passed a resolution condemning such therapy.
However, some people really do "change" their sexual orientation. Experts believe that people who do weren't gay/bi to begin with, or the change would have occurred anyway i.e. without the use of therapy. Also, some bisexuals have a choice in their sexual behaviour, and may choose only to pursue relations with the opposite gender.

Reparative therapy is, in my understanding, a pseudo-science based on any of several techniques that are aimed at changing a person's sexual orientation from homosexuality to heterosexuality. I don't know if there's an alternative term for what you seem to be suggesting.

Oh, I think they should be allowed to live their lives the way they want. But I hope the idea makes a few people who need to think real hard about what they're asking LGBT people to do. Sacrifices are so easy when you're expecting other people to make them and live with the fallout.

Yes, the same techniques would have as much chance of working to turn straight people gay as they have to turn gay people straight -- and I actually have known some people who might try it -- however, it is not going to work anymore than the version used to try and turn gay people straight works -- so, nah.

What do you mean by STRAIGHT? The opposite of straight is crooked!
If your category qualification is the word STRAIGHT, then you imply that there is a category that is crooked!
In the context that you are categorizing people, then one category is correct and the other is not.
But then, In nature, the functions of the body and their purpose do not change. Only the female body is physically configured to support new life (SEX), by the penetration of the male penis into the vagina, to deposit the Sperm that fertilizes the Ovum!
Male and Female!
The human abuse of nature, males inserting their penis into natures place for humans to excrete their body waste, is such a profound violation of Nature and the use of the human body that it defies comprehension.
That some can equate a male rectum to the female vagina is the epitome of insanity. With that mind set, it is no wonder that children, male and female are raped, killed and slaughtered! Too, they must deny GOD existence because their behavior contradicts GOD and GODS stance against evil!
What male, with his penis in another males rectum, standing before GOD will be spared?
