I want to know if there is a special way to get from the keyboard this usual spanish, german letters french etc, by just presing a number as I used to do with the IBM before

Find the character you want in Character Map...
Click on that character
The Alt+# should show in the lower right corner
Hold down the alt key, key in the 4 #'s, THEN release the alt key

Example: Alt+0241 = ñ

One other thing: Different fonts have different characters...

And there you have it...

The numbers on the top row don't work. Go to 'insert' than 'symbol'--then you can just insert the accented letter. that will also tell you the keyboard shortcut for it that works in Word and some other programs. Good luck. I found it REALLY irritating that the alt+ codes didn't work on my laptop!

Although you can use either alt-key, you have to use the numbers on the number pad. The numbers above the top letter row won't work. Also, you have to have downloaded the latest java script.
