I would be devastated. I have a guy friend in this situation; it would be unbearable that I lost his wife (she committed suicide and was dying from cancer) and lost him as well. He is hanging in there for his son, and although it's very tough for him, he is starting to feel a bit better.
I would also feel guilty, and think I should have done more to help him; maybe he didn't really need space like he said, but nurturing and caring? Maybe I should have hugged him more, babysat more often, asked him to dinner, cooked for him?
I would also feel angry: how could he cause so much pain to people who were already hurting from the loss of his wife?
I would also feel extremely depressed. It would bring up feelings from his wife's death that were unresolved.

Honestly, I might sit around and think about what I could have done to better the situation. Once I realize, it was not my fault, I would be very sad and think about all the good times that came with him, and remember the good, forgive the bad.

Well, really sad and possibly empathetic to the situation. I could understand why he did it, but yet deeply saddened that another tragedy arose from his wifes death.

I would feel terrible, thinking I didn't do enough to help him through it. Probably end up at church a lot.

I would naturally be upset and probably take it out on those closest to him because I didn't want to blame myself.

It is always a tragedy when a person takes their own life.

i would wonder if there was something more i could have done to help him. i would probably go back & forth with sadness, wondering, and anger that he would leave people that loved him.
