I am headed on a Carnival cruise in one month. My best friend and I are getting last preps taken care of and now will be discussing plans for onshore excursions. Is there any advice? How to travel with money? How to make the most of a probably once in a life-time experience while on a very tight budget? Excursions that were most impressionable? Making the most of your time? All that kind of stuff...

Needless to say it all depends on where your cruise is going. As far as money goes. All your expenses on the ship are tied to your sign and sail card, although you do want to keep a fair amount of small bills for various tips. You can save money by booking your shore excursions independant of the cruise line. For those, you will eithor pay cash or credit card. Almost every merchant / company in the carribean takes US dollars. As far as general advice, don't try to do every little thing that is happening on the ship or else you will drive yourself crazy trying to cram too much in. Make sure you take the time to just chill. Go to cruisecritic.com and browse the message boards for ideas for individual ports.

They try really hard to get you to book excursions through them and even use scare tactics but I would wait until I got off the ship -the same companies are lined up waiting to sign you up for a lot less money.
