Everyone plays guitar. The world needs more keyboard players! Stick with the Piano and guitar will be easier to learn later when you have a good music theory base to work from. It might not be what you want RIGHT NOW, but it will serve you better in the long run.

By an acoustic guitar instead. They are a better guitar to learn on. And just play guitar on the side. The fact that you already play piano is going to help you with guitar. Guitar and Piano are very similair. You have to practice guitar everyday though, even if it is just for a half an hour.

I did cheerleading too, and I started playing guitar. I love it. DO IT!!! you can play so many more songs than you can on a piano. Explain to them that it's a really good skill. It's definitely a conversation starter, and it's easier to show off your talent. Maybe buy one yourself and practice on it (you can teach yourself chords pretty easy) after much devotion, your parents may decide that it's worth it to pay for lessons. Good luck

Ask your Mom if you can try electric quitar for 30-days. Ask her if she will please compromise with you just so you can rule out if that is what you are interested in.

tell them that you have your own life and you should make your own decisions. if they wont still get you one, buy it yourself it costs like $200 in walmart with an amplifier with it.
