The Russian Mammoth Sunflower and Paul Bunyan have been known to grow to 15 feet tall. My Russian grew about 10 feet with a head full of seeds the size of a basketball! It was so weighted down that it bent its stem. I was able to harvest a cazillion seeds for the next year and for feeding the birds in winter. (I'd smear peanut butter on pine cones, roll them in the seeds and wire them in clusters on my trees. It was fun to watch the birds come!)

I grew a mammoth variety one year. A few made it to 14', and yes, the heads were huge. The squirrels loved them :-(, beating out the birds. I never grew them again because they were too great an attractant to the squirrels, the last thing I would ever want. I should have give the plants to a neighbor to grow.

If they were 12 ft tall, they'd either have to have thick stalks, or they'd be falling over. That's twice the size of me with is friggin' tall. I guess it's possible, though.

Yeah, I have seen them as tall as where the roof comes down on a single story house. (not the top of the roof...but the lower part, where the rain gutter is).

Thats really tall. I had one 10 feet. Take a picture of yours and send it to your local paper or your county agricultural newspaper. They will probably publish it. m

They must be the "Mammouth" ones. I"ve seen them but never planted them. It's not abnormal for the mammouth ones to grow to such heigths. OUTSTANDING!
