I think all the arguing and name calling from both sides is childish and only hinders progress and change for the better. ex: Calling someone a neocon or libtard. Seeing people in their 40's call the other party names is pretty embarrassing, and so is not acknowledging that people's views will not always be the same as your own. Anyone agree?

Believe it or not, neocon is actually a technical term used by many republicans to mean neo-conservative. Kind of like some democrats call themself liberal and are proud of it. ie, me.

I do agree that all the name calling gets no one anywhere. I wish both sides did not have to be so hostile; although, just take a look at all the questions here and you will find hositility is a republicans middle name.

I could go in to a long explanation explaining why... evolves around Rove since the 70s using hate (he said this out loud) to win the republican vote.. but I won't.

What I will talk about is from the democratic point of view:
1. We have finally woken up to the fact that there is a certain portion of society that only respects neanderthal behavior.
2. We are fed up with being the... what is the word... honorable one that walks away from the name caller. Ever since Gingrich in 94 when we let them get away with smearing Clinton from everything from ... to ... that all turned out to be false, we are fighting back and ready to kick major ***. No more bully in the school yard... we are standing up because this time our country and all the freedoms it stands for are at stake.

Yes, unfortunately I think that is a part of having a two party system. The two parties compete for the same goal and therefore must be diametrically opposed at all times, even if it doesn't make sense. How else could you have Republican that oppose abortin rights on the grounds that it ends a human life, yet no problem with the death penalty. And democrats that voted overwhelmingly for War with Iraq, and now champion pease as there pet cause.

I think they used to be Republicans and Democrats for the people.
Now the people have limited say and little representation.
I'm not sure that the general public knows what goes on with our government and most don't care.
Yes it's very embarrassing to have our leaders act like fools, we must look like idiots around the world. What is the perception others have of us in the US?
Hey our media doesn't help either, they are the creative ones coming up with the crazy names for our leaders to use against one another.

Pretty much. I think everybody is pretty convinced of whatever thing they chosen to believe. As our education, parenting, and general societal morals decline it's probably just going to get worse. Ignorance and general lack of thinking critically creates a breeding ground for corruption. America has been in decline for a long time and I think we've just about reached the tipping point of no return. Better learn Chinese.

i admire Ron Paul. i might vote for Kucinich if Paul did no longer run yet ok did. i will probable finally end up balloting for Bob Barr or Chuck 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley, yet they are no longer the single i myself decide for... So my objective is for some blend of 'not one of the above' to win, so the two events won't have a stranglehold interior the destiny as human beings comprehend a 0.33 social gathering CAN win - if purely human beings might vote their ideals.

I think I learned from this administration that power lies when we stick together and then you work out your differences later.
