If you have XP, go to all programs, then accessories, then system tools, then files and settings transfer wizard. It will tell you how to hook two computers together and how to transfer files. You can also copy smaller files to CD and transfer them that way..

Windows XP has the files and settings transfer wizard if you have them networked or a have connection cable. Or if the Windows 98 PC has a usb port, you can buy a flash drive and move the files using the flash drive. At some places you can get a 1GB flash drive pretty cheap.

What I would do if I were you, is create several "Folders" on your desktop, for example "My Documents", "MS Word", etc.

Copy your complete My Documents to the new folder. Do a search on all the other files on your computer that you want. Start>>Search. Click on advanced tabs. Check all boxes. Search *.doc, *.wma, etc. Copy directly from the Search / Found window by click the first found one and then either holding down the Ctrl button and click each individual file or click the first and then scroll down to the last and hold Shift then left-click. Drag each Search/Found to its respective folder. Write folders to a CD, DVD, USB jump drive and load on XP machine.
