First, you'd want to cover the purpose of allowing calculators: to let children focus on the problem-solving portion of mathematics, rather than the arithmetic.

Then, you'd want to cover the cons:
1.) Some children become overreliant on using calculators - especially if they're using graphing calculators. They end up being unable to do math without the calculator - which of course defeats both purposes of teaching math (understanding mathmatics, and learning logic/problem solving).
2.) Some teachers become overreliant on using calculators, spending class time teaching people how to do equations on the calculator rather than manually.

Pros:
1.) When done right, using calculators allows students to spend more time on the mathematics, and less on arithmetic.
2.) Students who have learning disabilities about arithmetic may perform better when using calculators, because they can focus on the problem solving rather than the arithmetic.

calculators are okay to use in classrooms. Now you are not allowed to used programable calculators because teachers don;t want students to put answers or formulars in calcuators. They want to student to remember the formulars.
