That's what you call the price of free speech. You're free to speak it, and if it insults someone, they're free to never forgive you. The lesson: Consider the consequences of what you say before you say it. And try not to be drunk at the time.

I agree with bones here! Do you honestly believe that Mel Gibson is a rascist!!! And furthermore, who died and made the liberal media the judge and jury? They are not God! Mel Gibson does not have to answer to them or anyone else. However, at the same time I do believe that drinking and driving is always wrong. I got caught and would never do it again. We should all consider the consequences of our actions. The media has no right to weigh in, just stick to the facts. I think they hate him because he made the "passion of the Christ." Take a look at the criminal records of our elected officials- you might be surprised.

I understand that Mel said something against the "Jews". To say he is a racist is toally wrong, as "Jew" is not a race.

In answer to your question ""What ever happened to free speech?" it seems that religion get special legal protection against being called fake or a fraud... and you are not allowed to ridicule the ridulous. A law that protects superstition? Whatever next?

Nothing has happened to free speech. Mel certainly exercised his right to that constitutional guarantee. However with that right also comes responsibility. If you run your mouth, and somebody objects to it, you should be prepared to take the heat.

Remember, those who objected so loudly to Mel's rant, also have the right to free speech!

The right to free speech is widely misunderstood. It was intended to mean that a citizen may speak out in disagreement with his/ her government without fear of being jailed by the government. It does not mean that you can say anything you want in public with the guarantee that you will never have to justify it to anyone.

I am a little confused as well. Everyday on tv we hear people bashing Muslims, Asians, blacks or whatever. But if one person says something about Jews, you will get beat down. LOL!

I am not prejudice against Jews or any other culture. It just shows you how much of a hypocrite people can be.

Well, yeah. He had the free speech right to be a jackass, and the rest of us have the free speech right to call him a jackass.

The only acceptable "free speech" in Amerika is sanctioned by liberals. The only hate speech allowed comes from the left.

We don't have the right to not be offended. If so every high school kid in the country would be doing time. Political correctness is ******** liberal touchy feely politics that needs to die an untimely death.

You are free to say what ever you want, but don't expect everyone to like what you are saying. And definitely don't expect them to keep financing your idiotic extravagant lifestyle.
