Before you wash her hair, apply oil and wait for about an hour. Then when you shampoo, scrub it gently without hurting her scalp. Rinse well and then add just a small amount of oil. Keep doing this. No it does not matter if the child has olive skin, dark, or white. Craddle cap affects all races. I once heard, that the reason a child gets bad craddle cap, when they get a little older, is because the head was not shampoo-ed good enough as a new infant. We all go gentle on the baby head. All of my children had it. It is gross and the Doctor said I need to scrub the scalp good. I was always afraid to wash vigourously.

It's common for babies to get cradle cap. When my babies had it I would take a little comb and softly scrape the scalp...Try using some baby oil or vaseline. I can't remember if the drs prescribed anything for them because it's been a while since I had a newborn which by the way 16months sounds kind of old for your baby to have it, but my famous words are when in doubt go see your pediatrician and they will definitely assist with the problem.

Your daughter's scaplp is just dried out. Try shampooing her hair every other day and see if that helps. To get rid of it in a hurry, put some baby oil on it, leave it on for a little bit, and use a comb and rub it all out.

First don't wash her hair so much, second baby oil works well. If you had a boy I'd say shave it because that's how I got rid of my son's. Cradle cap is very normal and it doesn't hurt, it will dry up in time.

Some children are just prone to it. There is a product out there made just for cradle cap. IT works! My youngest grandson got it and it worked great. We applied it to his head, then used a baby comb to loosen the crusty stuff, then washed it out. I dont think washing hair every day makes one bit of difference.

The cause isn't actually known. It doesn't matter how much you shampoo but you can try gently brushing it out with a soft brush.
I massaged olive oil into my children's scalps, waited 15 minutes, and gently combed it out. Then I shampoo'd the oil out.

Cradle cap is something that most babies get - yes you are shampooing your babies hair to much - the doctors recommend you only wash your baby when it is dirty - washing to much damages the child's skin and immune system!@

Wash her head/hair with a gentle shampoo, I think everyother night is fine, maybe everynight when it is hot out so she will be comfortable.
