Elevated blood biliruben (bile) is a sign that blood is not passing through the tissues of the liver as it should. This tends to result sooner or later in death, or something very similar.

Extreme hypertension, blood toxicity, damage to the viscera and the brain and central nervous system. Jaundice is only an indicator. Unpleasant enough, but only a sign of the accompanying morbidity.

If the biliruben is elevated, follow medical instructions immediately and to the letter. If there is a drinking problem involved, it must be interrupted at once. It is best to put the person in a long-term care facility like tonight, and be very suspicious of "friends" visiting, bringing brown paper bags or wearing bulky coats.

The drinking has to be stopped right away. If there is no drinking problem, there is less that can be done to help the patient. But take all medications and follow all medical advice. Your patient might survive.
