Yes, I love it and the more the merrier. If someone gets mad it probably means they don't have a clue what they are talking about. Sorry but after watching my family produce like rabbits for the last 40 years if I never the words "Sesame Street" again at the dinner table I'll die a happy man. I think it is a good thing because everyone can become a better citizen by discussing the issues at hand.

We talk about most everything that has happened in our day. Political issues included. Nothing wrong with it as long as it is not bringing arguments to the dinner table.

We talk politics all the time at the dinner table. I think that was influential in my son's decision to study political science. Now he has a masters degree in poly sci. We have to be careful though when we are with our church friends because their political ideas are sometimes opposite of ours and it is not fun to get into a debate at the dinner table with company.

I think it depends who you're with. And their personality. If you're at the dinner table with a hardcore conservative who also happens to be an employer/client of yours, and you happen to be a moderate liberal, don't open your mouth.
However, if it's family, and you don't all agree on issues, it can be really interesting to see other people's points of views.
As long as you're not around fanatics, it's usually cool.

Politics is one of those taboo topics, like religion or whatever, but screw that. It's interesting.

No, I enjoy debating politics in a more relaxed setting such as a family room in the early evening hours with an open beverage counter for others to help themselves, during the debate of politics. Thanks for asking.

It depends on who you're with. It's rude when you get onto hot topics that may upset people. Mealtime is for eating, relaxing, and having pleasant conversation. If you really want to talk about politics suggest having coffee and debate after dinner.

My family comes from many political and religious slants. While I have my own opinions, I rather like playing devil's advocate. I think it's bad for polite conversation because it can cause so many bad feelings. But, I think it's fine between true family and friends because we can only strengthen our positions through healthy debate.

The three taboo's of dinner conversation are sports, politics & religion. These will all eventually lead to an argument & give you indigestion to boot.
