Close itunes, connect your ipod, and the itunes should reopen again and this time it should say on top of the screen "Updating ipod. Do not disconnect" and just leave it connected until it says, "ipod update complete. OK to disconnect" or something like that. If you need to charge your battery, leave it connected until the ipod screen says "Charged".

Put the CD into your computer

open iTunes

then click on the CD on the left hand side of the window

then press the button in the top right that says "transfer songs"

then wait till they're done

then plug your iPod nano into your computer

and update it with your library

If the songs are on your computer already, just connect your ipod, change the setting to manually adding songs, and then drag the songs to the i-pod name in the column thats on the left of the window.

Use Windows Media Player to "rip" it from the CD onto your PC.
