I purchased the prep + prime for eyes by mac yesterday. I tested it on my client yesterday. i am still not sure if primers are necessary for preventing the makeup from wearing off or creasing.

This type of product is very good for women who have creases/wrinkes and/or if you want your makeup to last ALL DAY. It does provide a layer so your skin looks smoother, if you are not a big fan of makeup I don't suggest this. But, since the product is for your eyes - and makeup does tend to crease I think it should work really good. I'm not sure about the MAC stuff, but I know Smashbox has gotten rave reviews in so many magazines for their primer makeup.

Primers definitely work - I use Benefit's Dr. Feelgood and it is great. I get silky smooth skin, with great smooth coverage from my foundation. It is also enriched in moisture and vitamins and other good stuff. It looks really oily, but it mattetify's when put on the face. I swear by it.
Also not sure, but it seems to be easier when taking off my make up. Not so clogged, as if it has been sitting on the surface like a extra bit of skin...

For the eyes - try Elizabeth Ardens eye primer - I always got creased make up likes after a day at work, but with this stuff its magic! Thoroughly recommend this one!

Good luck!

I do not think that those are necessary if you use the right product. Also, it depends on what kind of skin you are dealing with. For eye makeup, a little bit of oil free foundation makes a great primer and therefore, no need for a separate primer. Oily skins are usually repellent to any kind of makeup, with or without primer. Therefore, again, an oil free foundation should do the job.
